Module 14 · Mocks & Drills

What this module does. It tests the course under exam conditions. There are four topic mocks, a four-hour final exam on a new company, a stock-pitch mock with a rubric and question bank, and two drills to repeat until they are fast. Every mock has a worked answer key with marks.

Why it matters. Reading about analysis feels like learning; doing it against a clock shows what you actually know. Traders will recognise the principle: you do not know your edge until you have been scored on it. The mocks are also where the pieces from different modules have to fit together — accounting feeding ratios, ratios feeding valuation, forensics adjusting both.

The mocks

# Mock Take after Time Marks · pass Answer key
1 Accounting & statements M02–M03 (also the placement test) 2 h 80 · 56 Key
2 Analysis & business quality M04–M05 2 h 80 · 56 Key
3 Valuation M06–M07 2.5 h 100 · 70 Key
4 Forensics & sectors M08–M09 2 h 100 · 70 Key
5 Final exam — Kabini Home Appliances Everything 4 h 150 · 105 Key
6 Stock-pitch mock M11 1 week + 15 min 100 · 70 (rubric) Scored examples

The drills

Drill When Time Key
Unidentified industries (India edition) After M04 45 min Key
Speed ratios & mental maths Any time; monthly 4 × 6 min Key

Where each one falls in the 20-week plan is set out in 00.2.

How to take a mock

  1. Sit it timed and closed-book. Use a calculator; use a blank spreadsheet only where the paper allows it. Open the key only when the time is up.
  2. Mark it strictly. Award method marks as the key describes, but a wrong number is wrong. For written answers, compare your reasoning with the key's; if yours differs but is defensible, write down why.
  3. Keep an error log. For every miss, record:
  4. the question;
  5. the kind of error — concept (didn't know), method (knew it, applied it wrongly), arithmetic, reading (misread the question) or judgement (a defensible answer, just not the best one);
  6. the lesson to re-read.
  7. Re-sit the misses a week later. A concept error that repeats is a module to redo, not a question to memorise.
  8. Use the thresholds in each key. Each key says what to do at 70%+, 55–69% and below.

What the mocks do not test

Judgement under real uncertainty, with no answer key. The final exam and the pitch mock come closest. The capstone is where it happens for real, on companies you choose, with outcomes you will learn about a year later.

Connections

  • Back: every module. The final exam draws on Modules 02–12, and its forensic adjustments are the ones from 09.2 and 09.3.
  • Forward: Module 15. The pitch mock's memo, model summary and scores go straight into the casebook.

You're ready to move on when you can…

  • Score 70%+ on Mocks 1–4 within the time limit.
  • Pass the final exam (105/150), with no section below 60%.
  • Score 70+ on the pitch rubric from a partner, not just from yourself.
  • Score 36/44 on the speed drill, and 10/12 on the unidentified-industries drill with the reasons right.
